WorkBook: Managing capacity via total hours per week

In this scenario you are amending an employee’s capacity profile. Instead of concentrating on the hours per day, you’ll focus on the hours per week. Allowing more flexibility for resource managers when scheduling.

Step-by-step guide

  • Amend the capacity profile for the employee by duplicating the previous one and changing the capacity start date accordingly
  • Amend the hours to show the total number of hours the employee is working per week. Rather than concentrating on the days of the week.

The employee’s weekly capacity will now equal the total number of hours in their capacity profile (in the example above, this is 32 hours).

When using this method, Resource Manger’s will need to over/under schedule accordingly

Remember: when changing an employee’s hours or days, previously scheduled tasks may need to be moved to accommodate the changes.
